OK - almost a new school year....

So - hopefully I will have time to post on here again... Things have been CRAZY around here this summer and we didn't even have baseball games to run to! LOL

Bubba has started football practice this week and so far he actually gets right out of bed for it... lets hope that continues! Other than that - the last couple of weeks have been fairly calm thankfully... 1/2 more weeks until school starts and then maybe things will calm down even more...

I think that is it for now... I'm not too awake yet - so... :)

Who Says White Boys Can't Jump?

I was just going through the online galleries for our school and found these pix of Bubba. I had to laugh... maybe I should put a brick on his head? :)

3rd Track Meet...

Man - this boy is doing GREAT! At this meet he finally got all four GOLD METALS! YAY! :D He got a gold in the 75 meter hurdles, the 200 meter hurdles, the 100 meter dash and the 4x400 relay! I keep telling him not to expect to do so well at every meet - there are kids out there faster than him! But, if he keeps doing this good I may have to eat my words! x) LOL

I love my water bottles! :)

I just bought myself a new water bottle from reusablebags.com and I LOVE it! :) Here is the one I got -

I actually have the purple "Rise Above Plastic" one. :)

The ones I have had before were more like sports bottle tops - this one is a screw off and I really like that better. Bubba likes the sports bottle ones to take fishing - so he can have my old ones. I did buy him a couple of new ones too - but these had better not go fishing!! Here they are -

Funny thing is - in this image they look really short and fat... really they are tall and just a little bigger around than a pop can.

Also - to further help our bottled water drinking family go a little more green - I have bought a water filtration pitcher. I really like it. And I've already noticed I drink more water now - and I'm not purchasing as many bottled waters since I can just take my filtered water with me! YAY!

Good News Is....

We have water again... Bad news is - we can't drink it! I need to find out if one of those purify pitchers would make it OK to drink... but I don't think that is what those are really made for... Oh well! At least I can take a bath again!! :)

No Water?

One of the MAIN water mains broke up town today! The ENTIRE town is out of water! They have to bring someone in to fix it... this could really suck...

Second Track Meet

Well - yesterday was the second track meet of the season. Bubba did pretty good again. :) He got a gold in the 75 meter hurdles, a silver in the 100 meter dash, a silver in the 200 meter dash and a silver in the 4x400 relay... again - not too bad! It was a pretty big meet too - 11 schools.

PLEASE DO THIS 'FREE' GOOD DEED - Animal Rescue

Hi, all you animal lovers/supporters: This is pretty simple... Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it's website daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.

It takes less than a minute (How about 20 seconds) to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Me? An Old Fashion Hooker?

I guess you could say that I am! I have been convinced to be a saloon girl at the next several Opera House plays and at the Chisholm Trail Festival held here in town! I still need to put my dress together - but at least I have my dress! I think it will be fun... or - I hope it will be! :) It is not often you can wear a short puffy dress with lots of big lace, fish net hose, and feathers in your hair and get away with it! HA! I will post a pic of me in my dress as soon as I have it done... :D

Mock Wreck...

I helped with a mock wreck to show the effects of drunk driving on Thursday... I think it turned out really well! The fire dept actually cut our "death" out of the car. Hopefully we made an impact with at least ONE kid... Here some pix of them cutting him out...

First Track Meet

Well - Bubba did pretty good at the first track meet of the year. A gold in the hurdles, a gold in the 100 meter dash, a gold in the 4x400 relay and a silver in the 200 meter dash. Hopefully he can keep this up! :)

WOW - been a while...

Seems like life just keeps getting busier and busier... how is that possible?

A quick update - everyone is still doing great. Bubba is running track - sprints and hurdles to be exact. They are talking about having him practice the hurdles with the high school track team to give him more experience... that is kinda crazy... but if it starts to go to his head it will no longer happen! I'm not going to have a jerk jock for a son... NOT gonna happen!

Big Guy is growing by leaps and bounds! He started the year the shortest in his class and he is now moving up to the tallest... I guess I should have expected it, but still! Why do they have to grow up SO fast? He is even starting to read now... *sigh* my baby is no longer a baby, huh? Time for another one! :D

I am still in school. I should graduate next May - so pretty much only one more year! YEAH!!! I hope it goes by fast... I'm getting pretty sick of school! :)

I think that is it... I've got to try and start updating on here more...

Basketball Camp

Bubba is SO excited! He is going to the Bill Self Basketball Camp in Lawrence, KS in June... that would be the KU basketball camp! YAY! Danny Manning and several of the other graduated players will be there to help coach the boys... One of Bubba's friends is also going so they will be rooming together. I thin they will have a lot of fun! :)

Quick Update

My Dad is finally doing really well again... I think he just likes to keep us on our toes! ??? Or something... he has got to stop scaring me like that! :)

Big Guy is becoming quite the ornery turkey butt (my "nice" nickname for him LOL). Some of the stuff he says! It just cracks me up even though I know I have to keep a straight face so he doesn't know it... funny funny kid.... ;D

Bubba is growing again... I just bought him 3 new pairs of jeans & his gparents bought him 2... I bet they don't last another month... :o I guess I will take them down to GG's (my friends local consignment store). He is now dang near taller than Travis and he is just under 6'1...

I spent the weekend painting my entry and repainting my dinning room... I just love those rooms now! MUCH better! The dining room was a light greyish blue - I hated it for that room since we painted it... funny thing is - we used the same blue in the bathroom and I love it there! strange... The entry I painted a pretty brick red - looks WONDERFUL with all that stained glass in there! I did stay in the blue family for the dining room - but I went with more of a jewel dark blue - makes the old natural woodwork just pop! I'm so happy with it! :)

I think that is it for now!

Basketball...

We won our first game last Thursday... it was a pretty good game too - except that the coaches put in three 6th graders and never pulled them out so the upper classmen hardly got to play! I am SO PISSED at how the season is going so far... then - last night - the 2nd game of the season and they only play Bubba 2 quarters of the "B" game. So, of course - he thinks he is going to get to play in the "A" game... WRONG!! Not ONE SECOND!!! He came home in TEARS and now he wants to QUIT! I could understand if we were going for something like a state championship or something... I mean - I realize that those 6th graders are good... one of them IS a better player than Bubba - the other two are NOT though!... AND - this is MIDDLE SCHOOL!! This is were they learn to play - and you don't learn to play by sitting on the bench!!! Bubba is planning on talking to the head coach today at practice... and then we shall see... something had better change - or they are going to have a lot of ticked off parents!

UPDATE:
One of the coaches basicly told Bubba that he hasn't been playing because he was not making it to Saturday morning practices... Well - in KS they can not make weekend practices mandatory for middle school and there can not be any punishment... since Bubba has been going deer hunting every Saturday he has not made it to the practices... *sigh* not sure what to do with that one...

Tonight Starts Basketball Season...

Well - football went well... much better than I had thought it would... Bubba has always HATED football, but now... well... looks like we will have another sport to follow until he graduates! :) But, now it is on to basketball - his FAVORITE sport... I'm not sure what to expect... he did really well last year, but I'm not sure he has mastered coordination with this growth spurt he has been on... I guess we shall see later tonight! :)

Prayer

(I don’t know if Paul Harvey really said this – but if he didn’t – he should have...)

Paul Harvey says:

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his Theory of Evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue.

Yes, and this is the United States of America , a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna?

If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.

If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.

If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.

And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit.
When in Rome...

But what about the atheists? Is another argument.

What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer!

Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations. Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well, just sue me.

The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time that the majority Rules! It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray; you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN!

God bless us one and all .. especially those who denounce Him , God bless America, despite all her faults. & She is still the greatest nation of all. God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God.

Let's make 2008 the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions. And our military forces come home from all the wars.

Football is over...

But Bubba made quite the impression on everyone at the last game of the season last night! The first THREE touchdowns for us were made by HIM! WOW! And then he ended up also making 5 of the 2 point conversions and running over 120 yards total for the game! =) I am a very proud Mommy right now! He has decided that he will play football next year - but he is not sure about in high school... I told him that was fine - it is HIS choice, but his coach can't believe it - Bubba is really good at football... but I will not push him. It drives me crazy when parents do that... :) And he LOVES basketball and that is just fine by me - you can watch it in a nice warm gym! It was SO cold last night! :(
